Kiev points to Belarus’s plans to significantly increase its army
Kyiv, June 7, LETA – UKRAINIAN PRAVDA. According to information available to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army, Belarus plans to increase the number of troops in its army from 45,000 to 80,000.
“As part of the establishment of the Southern Operational Command, it is planned to increase the number of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus to 80,000,” the Ukrainian Army General Staff said.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army also warns that Ukraine is still threatened by missiles and airstrikes from Belarus in the direction of Volyn and Polesie.
There are currently a total of 45,000 people in the regular army in Belarus. In the global ranking of military forces “Global Firepower” in 2022, the Belarusian army ranks 52nd out of 142 armies considered.
