/ world today news/ The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPK) of Ukraine included the German company Knauf, the largest manufacturer of construction materials in the world, in the list of “international sponsors of war” because of its continued work in Russia, reports TASS .
„The NAPK included the Knauf company in the list of international sponsors of the war,” said a message on the agency’s website.
The agency claims that the company allegedly “promotes mobilization in Russia” and also pays taxes to the Russian budget.
Previously, the Austrian banking group Raiffeisen Bank, the American company Procter & Gamble, the French chain of stores selling repair products Leroy Merlin, Comnav Technology, the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry, the French supermarket chain Auchan, the Bermudian company Bacardi, the Chinese Alibaba Group, which owns the online trading platform Aliexpress, were included in the blacklist of the NAPC. Also on the list are the corporations Mars and PepsiCo, as well as tobacco companies such as the American Philip Morris and the Japanese Japan Tobacco.
In February 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in response to a petition, instructed the government to develop options for labeling the goods of foreign companies operating in both the Russian and Ukrainian markets.
The author of the public appeal pointed out that most foreign companies that have maintained a presence in Russia still remain leaders in their segments and in Ukraine. He proposed to oblige such companies to label goods imported into Ukraine with a special label.
According to the information published on the NPC website, the main purpose of the sanctions lists is to inform the governments of Ukraine’s partner countries, as well as citizens, about the sanctions already imposed and to call for the expansion of the sanctions lists against persons supporting the Russian Federation.
The department indicated that it is possible in this way “to quickly synchronize sanctions lists and limit the possibility of circumventing sanctions”.
