Kiev fell into the cabal: why the G-7 countries did not give security guarantees to Ukraine – 2024-08-20 18:58:46

/ world today news/ The G-7 countries signed a declaration of support for Ukraine

As a result of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the G-7 countries (USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada) issued a joint declaration of support for Ukraine. “Komsomolskaya Pravda” presents the main theses of this document.

The main theses of the declaration of support for Ukraine

1. The G-7 confirmed “an unwavering commitment to the strategic goal of a free, independent, democratic and sovereign Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, capable of defending itself and deterring future aggression.”

2. Advertisements “beginning of negotiations with Ukraine to formalize support for G-7 countries.”

3. Expresses the intention of each G-7 country to work “on specific long-term bilateral commitments.”

4. These commitments and agreements will include the provision of Ukraine’s military complex, including advanced military equipment on land, water and air, training and education of the Ukrainian military, intelligence sharing and cooperation, support for cyber defense initiatives.

5. Also the duties of G-7 may include “strengthening the economic stability of Ukraine, including through its recovery” and “providing technical and financial support for urgent needs”.

The question of Russia

6. The statement reads: “In the event of a future armed attack by Russia, we intend to immediately consult with Ukraine to determine the appropriate next steps.”

7. In addition, the G-7 plans to “is working with Ukraine on an expanded package of commitments and security agreements in the event of future aggression so that Ukraine can defend its territory and sovereignty.”

8. The G-7 countries stated that Russia’s sovereign assets in our jurisdictions will remain frozen until Russia pays for the damage it has caused to Ukraine.”

Responsibilities of Kyiv

9. Ukraine’s commitments include “implementation of reforms in law enforcement, judiciary, anti-corruption, corporate governance, economy, security and public administration”.

10. In addition, the Independent is committed to reforming the Ministry of Defense, including “by strengthening democratic civilian control of the armed forces and increasing efficiency and transparency in Ukraine’s defense institutions and industry.”

Why the G-7 countries did not give security guarantees to Ukraine

Summary. It is worth noting that the G7 countries carefully avoid the word “guarantee” in the document. And Ukraine specifically asked for security guarantees, such as the NATO member countries have. Such guarantees, for example, oblige the other members of NATO to enter into a military conflict in the event of aggression against one of the member countries of the Alliance.

In fact, the “Declaration of Support for Ukraine” does not add any new obligations to the US and its satellites. But Ukraine is strictly obliged to carry out political reforms in the country in the interest of the West, linking this issue with the continuation of military and financial assistance.
