The Olympic sailors are heading for their final weekend at the 128th Kiel Week. In the Olympic half, the players of the national sailing team kept title or podium chances in almost all classes before the last two days of racing.
In the new Olympic discipline 470 mixed, two GER teams are in the top three: Luise Wanser/Philipp Autenrieth (Norddeutscher Regatta Verein/Bayerischer Yacht-Club) lead the field after two weaker results and a day win with a three-point lead over theirs Teammates Malte and Anastasiya Winkel (NRV/Schweriner Yacht-Club) and the Swedish Olympic silver medalist Anton Dahlberg with Lovisa Karlsson.
“We made two stupid mistakes. It’s annoying because if you can win one race, you could have won all three.”
Luise Wanser
An unusual duo is ahead in the women’s Olympic 49erFX: NRV talent Sophie Steinlein starts in the openly advertised fleet with Olympic 49er bronze medalist Thomas Plößel. Its helmsman, Erik Heil, was unable to attend the home game due to his studies. Ploessel keeps fit for the World Cup comeback with Heil in August with the mixed game. Tina Lutz and Susann Beucke were in sixth place when they retired from Olympic sailing in the 49erFX with two races to go.
Windsurfing: Kördel and Erdil in front
The windsurfing disciplines iQFoil for men and women were led by Sebastian Kördel and Lena Erdil (both NRV) before the end of the race on Friday evening. In fourth place in the Ilca 7, Nik Aaron Willim saved his chance for a first Kieler Woche title.
Kohlhoff/ Stuhlhemmer are looking to catch up with the leaders
Italian Olympic champions Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti dominate in the Nacra 17. The Kiel bronze medal winners Paul Kohlhoff/Alica Stuhlemmer are still working on getting back up to the top after the baby break from the helmsman in tenth place.
