Bussum, August 14, 2024 – Healthy kidneys are extremely important. That’s why the Kidney Foundation is fighting for healthy kidneys for everyone. In the week of 15 to 21 September. Gather 35,000 volunteers to raise money for the Kidney Foundation. The Kidney Foundation is still looking for collectors in Ede.
The Netherlands currently has 1.7 million people with kidney damage. Often unconscious. And when you notice it, it’s often too late. Because kidney damage is irreversible and even mild kidney damage causes premature death due to the risk of heart failure. If we do nothing now, it will become the leading cause of death worldwide often caused by high blood pressure, diabetes, medication use and excessive salt consumption. A large part of the growing problem can be prevented by detecting kidney damage early and making people aware that kidney damage is occurring. A healthy lifestyle including salt-sensitive eating reduces the risk of kidney damage.
