3 other members of the kidnapping group were previously arrested, including: Zhao Xin (Chinese nationality) was identified as the leader; Duong Thuy Ai (residing in An Giang) is Zhao Xin’s lover; and Nguyen Khanh Vi (residing in Kien Giang).
Through the initial testimony of the subjects, the police determined that Zhao Xin and Thanh were the two people who directly kidnapped a man named G (Chinese nationality), Director of a furniture company in an industrial park. Tan Binh, Tan Binh town, Bac Tan Uyen district.
After kidnapping Mr. G, Zhao Xin and Thanh took this person to a factory in Hoa Phu ward, Thu Dau Mot city, rented by Duong Thuy Ai to store goods.
Here, the two brutally beat Mr. G and called Mr. G’s relatives to demand ransom. This group threatened that if Mr. G’s relatives did not pay the ransom and reported to the police, they would kill the hostages.
When Thanh discovered the police force surrounded him, he fled.
Plan to kidnap fellow countrymen
According to the police, around July 2023, Zhao Xin entered Vietnam as a tourist and came to stay with his girlfriend Duong Thuy Ai at a house in Hoa Phu ward, Thu Dau Mot, Binh Duong province.
While staying here, Zhao Xin got to know Nguyen Khanh Vi and Tran Phan Vu Thanh.
Because he needed money to spend, in early December 2023, Zhao Xin planned to find foreigners living in Binh Duong to kidnap and demand ransom.
Through surveillance, the group discovered that a man named G, Chinese nationality, Director of a furniture company in Tan Binh industrial park, Tan Binh town, Bac Tan Uyen district, often traveled alone, so they decided to intend to act.
On December 21, Zheo Xin and Thanh followed Mr. G’s car on a motorbike, then suddenly stopped the car, controlled it, kidnapped the director, and took him to a factory in Hoa Phu ward that was rented by Duong Thuy Ai. to store goods.
Here, Zhao Xin called Mr. G’s family to demand 5 billion VND ransom. If his family did not agree, Zhao Xin threatened to kill Mr. G. Immediately, Mr. G’s family members prepared money, but at the same time reported it to the police.
Upon receiving the news, the Criminal Police Department, Binh Duong Provincial Police coordinated with professional units to investigate.
In just a short time, the police were able to determine the location of the kidnapping group. Secret reconnaissance teams surrounded, controlled, captured 3 members of the kidnapping group and safely rescued the hostages.
