The police suspect that the boy kidnapped in January from Amsterdam had to be taken to a holiday home in Langbroek. The victim would know more about a home robbery and would be put under pressure at that location, but the kidnapping failed.
The link between a robbery in Amsterdam and the kidnapping in the same city has already been established. On December 18, tons of cash was stolen from a house on Minervaplein in Amsterdam.
The 15-year-old victim of the kidnapping was also in the house that evening, as were three other teenagers. Because the boy seemed to have a lot of money shortly after the robbery, the suspicion arose that he tipped off the perpetrators of the robbery, writes The parole.
For that reason, the teenager was pulled into a van on January 10. His hostage-takers hoped to get more information about the robbers from him and 200,000 euros had to be paid.
The victim was lured to the bus with a ruse. When the boy rode his bicycle through Amsterdam’s Tweede Jan Steenstraat, a ladder blocked his way. The boy was asked to help lift the ladder into a white van.
Officers approached the van with guns drawn
Five suspects will stand trial for the kidnapping on Friday for the first time. One of them is Faysal A. The 41-year-old Amsterdammer is said to have been on the lookout on January 10 and had a leading role in the kidnapping. His lawyer does not want to comment on this suspicion.
A. would have watched as the boy was dragged screaming into the loading space of the van. The victim was handcuffed in the vehicle and given a so-called gagball in his mouth to keep him quiet and a bag over his head.
A second suspect would be responsible for the alleged destination of the van. In Langbroek, a village near Utrecht with less than three thousand inhabitants, a holiday home had been booked in the name of Dione H.
The spacious detached house, where a stay without contact with the landlord was possible, was reserved from 9 to 13 January. The police suspect that 33-year-old H. knows more about the kidnapping. Her lawyer Feride Tosun does not want to say anything about this in the run-up to the first session.
Because of the boy’s screams, the van would never arrive in Langbroek. The police were alerted and after a pursuit of less than an hour, the vehicle was stopped.
On the A27, officers approached the car with guns drawn and freed the boy. Next to him in the loading area were Diego S. and Eedward N., who were immediately arrested. This also applied to the driver of the van, Victor K., who denies having known anything about the kidnapping plans.
Owner of home denies knowing anything about kidnapping
In addition to the alleged perpetrators of the kidnapping, the police are also investigating the client. One of the scenarios is that the owner of the robbed house on Minervaplein is behind it.
Her lawyer Geert-Iem Roos says that his client has nothing to do with the kidnapping and is not a suspect. She reported the home robbery and was heard as a witness, but has not heard anything since.
The first hearing in this case will be held on Friday 14 April.
