Kidnapped and beaten for 30 hours: an arrest in Vietri sul Mare

Kidnapping for the purpose of extortion and injuries, aggravated by mafia methods, blitz a Vietri sul Mare. This is the accusation against 4 people arrested by the State Police in execution of a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Napoli at the request of the Neapolitan Dda. The investigations conducted by the Naples Flying Squad concern the kidnapping for the purpose of extortion which took place on the afternoon of Saturday 5 October and ended approximately 30 hours later on the evening of Sunday 6 October.

Specifically, on the evening of Saturday 5 October the officers learned from some of the victim’s family members that the latter had been kidnapped in Naples, in the Case Nuove area, following an unsuccessful sale of cell phones with a foreign citizen. Immediately after the kidnapping, the family members received numerous and insistent phone calls from a man who, in Neapolitan dialect, demanded sums of money for the release of their relative, also receiving a photo in which the victim was portrayed with a swollen face. The investigations ended on Sunday evening when, thanks to the help of Central Operations Service personnel and the use of cutting-edge technical equipment, the victim was traced inside a house in the Case Nuove area, in the Mercato district. Inside the apartment, in addition to the victim, in precarious health conditions, one of his tormentors was identified, a Moroccan citizen who was arrested.

The subsequent investigations made it possible to acquire serious circumstantial evidence against the other 3 suspects who, during the kidnapping, subjected the victim, for approximately 4 hours, to a violent beating during which they had broken some tiles on her head, had caused burns on her limbs and ears with a cigarette and had broken some of her teeth. One of the suspects, who took refuge in the town of Vietri sul Mare to escape the precautionary measure, is linked by family ties to top elements of the Camorra clan Mazzarellaoperating in the Mercato-Pendino district of Naples.
