Kickers Offenbach: OFC after victory against Bahlingen – Now first place is feasible

Kickers Offenbach wins again. After the success against TSG Bahlingen, three top games await the OFC.

  • Kickers Offenbach beats TSG Balingen 1-0.
  • Fetsch scored the golden goal with a penalty.
  • For the OFC there are now three top games in the Regionalliga southwest.

Offenbach – The Offenbacher Kickers remain the team of the hour in the Southwest Regional Football League. With the 1-0 (0-0) against TSG Balingen, the sixth win in a row and the tenth game without defeat this year, the Kickers consolidated second place (50 points / 25 games) and can now play in March against the direct competitors set the course for first place and in the direction of third division promotion on their own.

OFC: Perfect English week

The Kickers, who controlled their task against Balingen and solved it quite confidently, profited at the end of a perfect English week with nine points from the mistakes of the competition. Front runner SC Freiburg II (51/25) lost 3-2 at Bahlinger SC and is only one point ahead. FSV Frankfurt (43/22), the sovereign leader before its forced Corona break, lost to VfB Stuttgart II 0-2 and can only get a maximum of two points more than Offenbach in the remaining three catch-up games. March will be a crucial month. An amazing development. As a reminder: five weeks ago the Kickers were still seven points behind the top of the table in sixth place. On Saturday the OFC has to go to third TSV Steinbach Haiger with the same number of points. Ideally, the Kickers could then take over the top of the table for the first time and defend it on March 31st with a win against the FSV.

That is to be expected of the team. The conviction with which the Kickers go onto the pitch after their winning streak is impressive. The OFC controlled the game against hard-working, committed and quite gallant Balingers thanks to its usual strong defensive work, which offensive forces such as Florent Bojaj or Davud Tuma have long internalized. The Kickers patiently looked for their chance on a difficult to play surface, sometimes combined nicely, but failed to set the course for victory in the first half. Mathias Fetsch (15th) failed once because of the strong parrying Julian Hauser, narrowly missed two more times (31st, 35th). In the 42nd minute, the Offenbach goalscorer vehemently demanded a penalty. After his shooting shot, Leander Vochatzer got the ball in hand from close range. The Balinger had widened the body surface with his arm – and thus thwarted a clear scoring chance. Clear thing? Not for the sometimes uncertain and not always conclusive referee Arianit Besiri (Trier). “That was a clear penalty”, Fetsch was furious even after the game. Because he did the same on the field, he saw the fourth yellow card.

OFC: penalty kick led to success

In the second half Besiri hesitated again at the next handball, but decided after Jonas Vogler’s illegal use (52nd) after Tuma’s cross on a penalty. This time the Balingers protested. “The referee and the linesman said they hadn’t seen anything, but a penalty will still be awarded,” said TSG coach Martin Braun. OFC coach Sreto Ristic had a clear opinion on the scene: “I saw it very clearly that it was a handball.” Mathias Fetsch walked to the penalty spot for the first time since his return to Offenbach – and turned his right into the right angle – being cool twelfth goal of the season.

“It was the expected tough game against an opponent who kept making the game tight with his two chains,” said Ristic: “Nevertheless, we deservedly won the game, had a lot more from the game and kept looking for playful solutions . ”What Ristic was missing was just a second goal“ to calm things down ”. Marcell Sobotta (80th) had the best opportunity, Balingen’s best, Julian Hauser, parried his shot, but with a strong reflex.

“That we finish the English Week with nine points is outstanding,” emphasized Ristic. Announcements to the competition do not come from him or the entire team. “We would do well to focus only on the next game,” said right-back Marco Fritscher. Goalscorer Mathias Fetsch, whom Ristic took off after 56 minutes with a yellow card, thought similarly: “Of course it’s going well, but we are well advised to just look at ourselves.” By Jörg Moll
