“Kickers Offenbach Misses Opportunity for First Place in Regionalliga Südwest with 1-1 Draw Against Astoria Walldorf”

Before the top game between leaders SSV Ulm 1846 and FC 08 Homburg on the 28th matchday of the Regionalliga Südwest on Saturday, Kickers Offenbach could have increased the pressure on Astoria Walldorf on Friday. That was only very sporadic with the 1:1.

Garcia equalizes for Offenbach

Only two points from the last three games have caused a lot of disillusionment at Kickers Offenbach. On Friday at Astoria Walldorf, however, there was a chance to move up to two points in first place, at least for a short time. But in the 9th minute, the hosts initially took the lead: After a quick counterattack, Carl sent Antlitz with a through ball, which netted. But almost in return, Bozic served the starting Garcia, who equalized. Idjakovic prevented the OFC lead in the 12th minute with a brilliant move against Feigenspan, after which a balanced game developed. From the 58th minute, Engl was in Offenbach’s goal because Richter hit the ground after an Astoria corner and injured himself. It was thanks to his opponent Idjakovic that Walldorf did not fall behind in several scenes. After that, the Hessians often acted too hastily and were also unlucky when a free kick from Garcia hit the post in the 81st minute. It went back and forth in the final minutes, with both teams sniffing at victory. But it stayed with the sniff and thus with the tie. For Offenbach probably not enough in the title race.

Top game in Ulm

On Saturday, the six-point game between leaders SSV Ulm 1846 and FC 08 Homburg should electrify many fans. Ulm can distance the third-placed Saarlander to seven points with one more game in hand, but should Homburg win, the two teams would only be one point apart. The FCH could also take heart from the fact that the sparrows, who seemed rushed for a long time, have only scored one point from their last three games. “We want to get stuck higher up. It’s our big goal to win this difficult away game,” says coach Timo Wenzel. And chairman Hans Gassert adds: “Even though we’ve had setbacks from time to time, we’re in the right place now good at it. However, this also applies to a number of other teams. I think all the top-ranked teams will be keeping their fingers crossed for us on Saturday. We’ll do everything we can to win in Ulm and make the fight for the title really exciting again.”

TSV Steinbach Haiger, who can even be the leader of the table on Saturday, also provides excitement. But coach Pascal Bieler’s men have also lost their lightness, at least the Hessians have only won one of their last four league games. In order for things to get better against TSG Balingen, Bieler has to work on evaluating chances, which left a lot to be desired in the 0-0 draw in Aalen. But since TSG can still count on remaining hopes for first place, Saturday’s game will be a tough test for TSV.

TSG Hoffenheim’s U23s, like their fellow competitors, have applied for a license for the 3rd division and are preparing to emphasize this formality in sporting terms as well. The Kraichgau talents go into the match against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz, who recently celebrated an emotional 3-1 win against Offenbach, with three wins in a row.

More about the Southwest Regional League

FSV Frankfurt are in really good shape and want to celebrate their sixth win from the past seven games at Eintracht Trier. Coach Tim Görner attributes a number of factors to the success: “We have a great team spirit, extreme cohesion. That strengthened again in the winter. In terms of fitness, we’ve also improved when you see how many games we’re still turning over the back . We’ve also made a lot of progress in terms of play.” Trier would also like to talk about themselves in this way, after all, Mark Zimmermann’s team was able to break the negative spiral of 17 league games without a win in Koblenz 4:3.

Trier’s table neighbors Wormatia Worms and FC Rot-Weiss Koblenz meet in a direct duel on Saturday. While Worms is only three points behind the saving bank, Rot-Weiss with 13 points does not only need a win as soon as possible, but also a groundbreaking football miracle for the rest of the season.

SGV Freiberg also has to look down with a four-point lead on 16th place and is now playing at secured Bahlinger SC.

Kassel with the troubled VfB offspring

The matchday will be rounded off on Sunday with a guest appearance by KSV Hessen Kassel at the U21s of VfB Stuttgart. VfB’s second-in-command team has only taken two points from the past five matches, but has nothing to do with relegation. Completely different Kassel, which looks deep in the eye of the Hessenliga, but has achieved a good starting position thanks to seven points from three games.
