The most important things in brief: Kickers Offenbach is the first amateur club to reach the second round of the DFB Cup. The regional league football team surprisingly eliminated second division team 1. FC Magdeburg 2:1 (1:0). This means that the former Bundesliga team and cup winner from 1970 is in the second main round for the first time in ten years.

Alexander Sorge gave the hosts the lead with a header in front of 16,500 spectators at Bieberer Berg (31st minute), Martijn Kaars equalized for the second division team (54th minute). Substitute Valdrin Mustafa (74th minute) made the decisive goal, having already knocked Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen out of the cup with SV Elversberg and Viktoria Köln.

Led by outstanding new signing Keke Topp, Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen effortlessly played its way into the second round of the DFB Cup.

In the 3-1 (2-0) win against the hopeless third division team Energie Cottbus, the 20-year-old centre-forward scored all of Bremen’s goals (32nd/37th/55th minute). Henry Rorig (70th) made his own fans cheer at least once with a direct free kick. Cottbus attacker Romario Hajrulla (78th) was shown the red card after sliding into Werder goalkeeper Michael Zetterer with his outstretched leg.

VfL Wolfsburg has completed its mandatory task in the DFB Cup and has moved into the second round. The Bundesliga football club defeated TuS Koblenz 1-0 (1-0) on Monday evening. The only goal in Koblenz’s Oberwerth Stadium was scored by Patrick Wimmer in the 15th minute in front of around 8,000 spectators.

The Bundesliga football teams Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg will play this Monday for a place in the second round of the DFB Cup. Werder will face third division team Energie Cottbus, Wolfsburg will face upper division team TuS Koblenz (both at 6 p.m./Sky). At the same kick-off time, regional league team Kickers Offenbach will also host second division team 1. FC Magdeburg.
