Why is there no waste in a natural cycle? Who’s cleaning up? And what are the effects on the environment of the waste people leave behind in parks and in the forest? Berlin schoolchildren received answers to these and many other questions about waste avoidance and separation in May 2022 at a clean-up in the Berlin forests organized by the Ökowerk Berlin nature conservation center.
Fully equipped with garbage tongs, gloves and buckets, they tackled the waste at the Ökowerk Berlin nature conservation center and other forest schools in Berlin. In addition to cleaning the forest, the children learned in a playful way everything about the cycles in nature and where man-made waste actually belongs: namely, properly separated into the right bin.
