Kian Fitz-Jim has extended his contract with Ajax up to and including the summer of 2027. The twenty-year-old midfielder will not play in the shirt of the team from Amsterdam for the time being; he leaves for Excelsior on a rental basis.
Fitz-Jim’s old contract ran until mid-2024. Fitz-Jim came over from AZ in 2019 and made his debut in Ajax’s main force at the beginning of this year. The Dutch youth international previously played 88 matches for the reserves.
At Excelsior, Fitz-Jim has to replace Lennard Hartjes, who has been out of circulation for a long time due to a knee injury. “That’s why we wanted to add creativity to our midfield,” says technical manager Niels van Duinen.
“Kian is someone we have been following for some time and fits perfectly with our way of playing. With the extension of his contract, Ajax indicates that it has a lot of confidence in him and Kian himself sees Excelsior as the ideal intermediate step towards a future in Ajax 1,” says Van Duinen .
The Kralingers have started the season well with five points from three games. Next Saturday, Excelsior will play against Heracles.
