The South Korean car manufacturer, Kia, launched the tiny Ray EV electric car. The car is a development of the Kia Ray kei car which is popular in the country of ginseng. If the tiny electric car is later marketed in Indonesia, it will face the local champion, Wuling Air ev.
Quoted from the website Electrekpre-orders for the Kia Ray EV have opened in South Korea starting Thursday, August 24, 2023. This tiny electric car is intended for use in urban areas with a range of more than 200 km.
The Kia Ray EV is offered in three variants, namely a one-seat variant, a two-seater variant and a four-seater variant. Each variant is offered again in 2 types, namely Light and Air. For the price, the one-seat variant for the Light type is USD 20,536 (Rp. 314 million) and the Air type is USD 20,873 (Rp. 319 million).
Then the two-seater variant for the Light type costs USD 20,611 (Rp. 315 million) and the Air type costs USD 20,986 (Rp. 32 million). The highest variant with a four-seater configuration is offered from USD 20,836 (Rp. 318 million) for the Light type and USD 22,187 (Rp. 339 million) for the Air type.
Specifications-wise, the Kia Ray EV will be powered by a 32.2 kWh LFP battery and improved aerodynamics, and will have a range of 205 km (127 miles). If you travel in the city, performance is claimed to reach a distance of 233 km (144 miles). The Ray EV electric motor has a maximum output of 64.3 kW (86 hp) and a maximum torque of 147 Nm.
With a 150 kW fast charger, the Ray EV can charge from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes. The 7 kW slow charger, on the other hand, takes six hours to charge from 10% to 100%. For the first time in the Korean compact car class, this vehicle is equipped with electronic brakes and electronic parking brake.
