Kia EV9 Named World’s Best Car of 2024 in World Women’s Car of the Year Competition on International Women’s Day

The WWCOTY or “World Women’s Car of the Year” competition, in which popular female journalists evaluate the latest vehicles, has recently ended, and the Kia EV9 was recognized as the world’s best car of 2024. The momentous announcement of the winner coincided with International Women’s Day, which not only reminds us of the special role of women, but also acknowledges the connection between personal independence and the car.

The tradition of determining the World Women’s Car of the Year was started in 2009 by New Zealand journalist Sandy Myra, and it is the only competition in the world where only female car journalists participate in the jury. Before voting, 75 female professionals from 52 countries tested dozens of new models and carefully evaluated every aspect. In the first round, out of 63 applicants, the top five categories were determined and they were:

• Volvo EX30 – family car;
• BMW Series 5 – the big car;
• Kia EV9 – SUV;
• Volkswagen Amarok – 4×4 & pickup;
• Aston Martin DB12 – the exclusive car.

In the next round, it was necessary to choose one car that would be worthy of receiving the title of the best in the world in 2024.

“This year’s judging was especially difficult because all the nominees were outstanding,” says WWCOTY Executive Director Marta Garcia. “Each finalist was endowed with the qualities to be worthy of being the first. But in the end, the Kia EV9 won over the competition, because it can satisfy any needs of people.”

After a thorough analysis, the jury confidently named the Kia EV9 as the best electric SUV. It boasts seven seats and an impressive cabin capacity and is the first of its kind in its segment. Despite its considerable length of 5 meters, the EV9 is endowed with excellent aerodynamics, which further enhances its performance. The EV9 also showcases a super-modern design that features advanced technologies including ultra-fast charging and two-way charging.

“Kia EV9 is a real game changer in the electric segment. It is a car that people will look back on one day and say – this is when electric cars became truly accessible, convenient and desirable for everyone. With no other model, engineers and designers have not taken such a big risk and have not broken the boundaries of our habits in such a surprising way,” says Tanya Gazdika, judge of the jury from the USA.

“The spread of electrification depends on whether electric cars will be available in most market segments. The Kia EV9 offers a family-friendly interior and a ride close to internal combustion cars, only without the emissions. These characteristics should push the many people who have not yet given the electric drive a say yes to the electric car, after all they will feel familiar and easy here,” says Jill McIntosh from Canada.

“Extremely noble, roomy, versatile, multi-functional electric car. Its four-wheel drive is truly powerful, and the various driving modes make the EV9 a great means of transportation in the Nordic winter. I tested the EV9 when the temperature was below -25 degrees, and I was surprised that the EV9 behaved like a proper luxury car in such weather: it warmed up quickly, and the range was not significantly affected by the extreme cold.
