[월간수소경제 박상우 기자] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) is promoting a LNG cold heat fuel cell business with Doosan Fuel Cell and Daewoo E&C in Hadong, Gyeongnam.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced on the 21st that it has signed a memorandum of understanding for the joint development of the future business of energy production with Hadong-gun food and energy convergence fuel cells with Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam QSF , Daewoo E&C and Doosan Fuel Cell at the Hadong-gun office in Gyeongsangnam-do.
Under this agreement, these organizations plan to install a 19.8 MW PAFC fuel cell at QSF’s Hadong plant, Gyeongnam, which has cryogenic food freezing technology. The plant produces around 156,000 MWh of electricity per year and around 10 Gcal of heat per hour and plans to supply it to commercial sites that need electricity and hot water in the future.
This project is a convergence project that uses the cold heat of LNG, which had hitherto been wasted, for cryogenic freezing of fresh food and fuel cell power generation, an environmentally friendly power generation facility, and should be al center of attention as a new business model.
In this project, KHNP will manage the project, Hadong-gun will provide administrative support for licenses, Gyeongnam QSF will take care of the development, site supply and construction of the LNG network, Daewoo E&C will take care of the design, construction and procurement of materials, and Doosan Fuel Cell will handle supply and technical support for key facilities. They also decided to actively collaborate in the future on convergence projects linking fuel cells and smart farms.
