Continental Hockey Leagues (KHL) President Alexei Morozov sees no reason why the next games of Riga “Dinamo” could not be played with the players of the Youth Hockey League (MHL) team “Riga”.
It has already been reported that Dinamo has been quarantined until October 5 due to the Covid-19 outbreak, but five KHL games have to be completed during this time, three of which are at home and two away.
Dinamo’s management is ready to receive technical losses in the next two matches against Moscow’s Dynamo and the same city unit CSKA. The chairman of the club council Juris Savickis and the head coach Pēteris Skudra believe that the Rigans cannot put MHL hockey players on the field because they do not meet the KHL level. Tournament organizers recommend teams to register for MHL players if the hockey players of the first team cannot participate in the matches.
“Why can’t they play with young people?” Morozov told RIA Novosti. “Riga club understands that they have to deal with all organizational problems, including composition issues. The club should find players from the back-up lines of its system. ”
Morozov apparently did not go into the KHL and MHL calendars. For example, on September 29 at 18:00 “Dinamo” is a game against CSKA, but “Rīga” club on the same date at 18:30 is a match against Mythic “Atlanty”. So even with the youth team “Dinamo” could not go to fight CSKA.
“The league sent an official letter to the Latvian government asking it to consider the idea of abolishing the mandatory express protests during the customs inspection,” Morozov said. “We have a clear plan for how and with how often the virus is tested for KHL. We are waiting for a formal response. “
It is expected that the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) will not change its position in the implementation of national health and safety regulations, and thus Dinamo will suffer technical losses.
