Continental Hockey League (KHL) decided to postpone the match between Yoklaviv Lokomotiv and Beijing Kunlun Red Star from 21 to 22 September.
Earlier, Russian hockey journalist Alexei Shevchenko reported on his “Telegram” channel that “Lokomotiv” urges KHL to postpone the match, because the team includes several hockey players with positive results of Covid-19 tests. The Yaroslavl Club mentioned the need for additional tests as a reason for relocation.
At the same time, the KHL press release states that the decision to postpone the match to September 22 may be changed depending on the test results.
Shevchenko himself was skeptical of Lokomotiv’s call for the league’s leadership to postpone the game. “On what basis? There are youth teams, VHL, after all, healthy people! It’s a fear of losing and nothing else, “Shevchenko said.
It has already been reported that there was no match between Lokomotiv and Sochi on September 17, as an outbreak of Covid-19 was detected in the Yaroslavl team. Initially, it was reported that the Lokomotiv team has three hockey players with positive analyzes, while a press release published today by KHL said that the test results were negative, but nine players showed symptoms of Covid-19.
On Saturday, in a conversation with the news agency LETA, the chairman of the board of Riga “Dinamo” Juris Savickis confirmed that the presence of the virus was detected among the club’s players after returning from away games in Russia.
Both this and the symptoms of Covid-19 forced several Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo players to postpone the September 22 game between Dynamo and Torpedo, which was to take place in Riga.
