KHL 2023 Season: Records, Stats, and Standouts

During the calendar year, the league played 858 matches and involved 918 players. More than 5.5 million spectators (5,580,366 people) visited the stands of the ice arenas. This is the highest figure over the past six years.

And in the past year, two outstanding hockey players ended their hockey careers. Five-time Gagarin Cup winner Danis Zaripov and Olympic champion Vasily Koshechkin. Let’s name the best in the past year in statistical categories and compare these indicators with the KHL’s record for 15 calendar years. 2008 was not considered, since in the first half of the year the championship title was still played out in the Super League.

Defenders’ goals. Alexander Nikishin – 17. Record holder – Alexander Guskov (23 in 2010). In the history of the KHL, only four cases with 20+ goals by defensemen in a calendar year have been recorded.

Defenders’ passes. Alexander Nikishin – 48. Record holder – Chris Lee (52 in 2016).

Points (goal + pass) of defenders. Alexander Nikishin – 65. Two scoring points were missing before repeating the record. The record holder is Chris Lee (67 in 2016).

Most goals. Reed Boucher – 18. Record holder – Sergey Mozyakin (22 in 2017).

Most of the passes. Jordan Weal – 28. Record holder – Vadim Shipachev (36 in 2015).

Most points. Nikita Gusev – 38. Record holders – Sergey Mozyakin and Nikita Gusev (46 each in 2017).

Even strength goals. Reed Boucher – 28. Record holder – Sergei Mozyakin (34 in 2014).

Shorthanded goals. Kirill Kapustin – 4. Record holders – Vadim Shipachev (5 in 2011). Alexey Tereshchenko also 5, but not for the calendar year, but for the KHL period in 2008
