Jakarta –
Motorcycle convoys carrying posters to flags with the words ‘Khilafatul Muslimin’ in Brebes, Central Java, and Cawang, East Jakarta, caused a stir. The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) gave an explanation about the Khilafatul Muslimin.
Director of Prevention of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), Brigadier General R Ahmad Nurwakhid said that Khilafatul Muslimin had the same ideology as HTI which had been dissolved by the government, namely establishing caliphate.
“The convoy of the group carrying the words “Awakening of the Khilafah” in Cawang, East Jakarta, also happened before in Brebes. They campaigned for the establishment of the system caliphate as a solution for the people carried out by the Khilafatul Muslimin group,” said Ahmad Nurwakhid to reporters, Tuesday (31/5/2022).
“This campaign actually has the same vision and ideology as HTI which has been dissolved by the government. The difference is, Hizb ut-Tahrir (HTI) is a trans-national movement and is fighting for a caliphate system in various countries. elected,” he continued.
Nurwakhid said that the Khilafatul Muslimin group cannot be separated from the NII. He said that some of the group’s key figures were former NII.
“The genealogy of the Khilafatul Muslimin cannot be separated from the NII because most of the key figures in this movement are former NII. Its founder and leader is Abdul Qadir Hasan Baraja, a former member of NII and one of the founders of the Al Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School with Abu Bakar Baasir (ABB) and others. and took part in the Indonesian Mujahideen Council (MMI) in 2000,” he said.
He explained that there were three parameters to see the event of the convoy with the words ‘Khilafatul Muslimin’ written on it. These include aspects of ideology, history, and the impact of ideology.
“One aspect of ideology is very dangerous by having an ideological caliphate in Indonesia such as HTI, JI, JAD, and other terrorism networks. Even though they claim that they do not conflict with Pancasila, their ideology is to disbelieve in a system that is not in accordance with their views. Two, historically, The founder of this movement is very close to radical groups, such as NII, MMI, and has a track record in terrorism cases,” he said.
“Baraja has been detained twice, the first in January 1979 related to the Warman Terror, detained for three years. Then arrested and detained again for 13 years, in connection with the bombing cases in East Java and Borobudur in early 1985. Three, the ideological impact, This movement has a vision and ideology of changing the system, which is very vulnerable to metamorphosis into a terror movement. Look at the case of the arrest of NAS, a terrorist suspect in Bekasi, who was found in his rented box containing Khilafatul Muslimin and the Khilafatul Muslimin embroidered logo, “he added.
He said the Khilafatul Muslimin movement was easily affiliated with terrorist networks. According to him, this was stated by a terrorism researcher from Singapore, Rohan Gunaratna.
“In addition, the Khilafatul Muslimin movement is easily affiliated with terror group networks such as ISIS, even during the heyday of ISIS in 2015, Terrorism Researcher Rohan Gunaratna from Singapore classified Khilafatul Muslimin as having pledged allegiance to ISIS,” he said.
