International news: Effects of bombing on Kharkiv

A drone attack targeting the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv and an energy facility in the surrounding area killed five people and cut off electricity to 350,000 residents, officials said Thursday.
Kharkiv is the second largest city in Ukraine and is located about 30 kilometers from the Russian border. It has witnessed strikes and bombing since the start of the current crisis.
Oleh Sinyhopov, the governor of the region, said that three rescuers were killed in a strike after arriving at the site of a previous attack. He added, via the Telegram messaging application, that 12 people were injured, three of whom were in critical condition.
Mayor Igor Terekhov indicated that another person was killed in a raid on another neighborhood. Regional police reported that the victim was a 68-year-old woman.
In the neighboring Sumi region, an employee working in a gas distribution network was killed in another bombing, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The Kharkiv Public Prosecutor’s Office stated on Telegram that buildings and cars were damaged in the attack.
Sinyhopov said that at least 15 drones were used in the attacks on Kharkiv.
The General Staff explained that the Ukrainian army shot down 11 out of 20 drones launched into the country during the night.
Sinyhopov confirmed that drones also targeted a power station in the area.
“In Kharkiv and places in the region, there are about 350,000 people without electricity,” Ukrenergo, the company that operates electricity networks, said in a statement.
The Ministry of Energy said that a solar power plant in the Dnepropetrovsk region was also targeted, causing a fire but it was extinguished.
