Khamenei’s Prophecy: Israel Vanishes in 19 Years, Kissinger: Disappeared Next Year

TEHERAN – Supreme Leader Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei first predicted in 2015 that Israel will not see the next 25 years.

“First, you (Israel) will not see the next 25 years,” said Khamenei.

“God willing, there will be no such thing as a Zionist regime in 25 years. Until then, the spirit of struggle, heroics and jihad will not leave a moment of calm for the Zionists.”

This was mentioned in connection with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear deal signed earlier that year between Tehran and the P5 + 1 which in theory would expire within 25 years. It is in this context that the statement appears.

Such rhetoric has been made in the past by Iran, for example, former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said 10 years earlier, “The regime that occupies Jerusalem must disappear from the pages of time.”

Ahmadinejad’s words were popularly mistranslated and misquoted by Western media at the time to mean “Israel must be wiped off the map.”

The original quotation of Ahmadinejad’s words itself is linked to the statement of the founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

“25 years” in some ways has become a mantra, and was officially rewritten on the Khamenei website the following year in 2016.

The head of the Iranian Army, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi repeated the claim in 2017 during an event commemorating the downfall of the Iran-Iraq War.
