The messaging service has instead posted a message that the tweet “is no longer available because Twitter’s rules have been broken.”
A Twitter spokesperson later added that it mainly concerns “our policy of disseminating misleading information about Covid-19.”
Khamenei will not be able to use his account on the American social network again until he has deleted the message himself.
‘Infected with HIV’
Iranians cannot use Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca’s corona vaccines, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reported Friday. Iran’s most powerful man said US and British vaccines should not be imported. According to him, “it cannot be ruled out that they want to infect other countries.” The French vaccines are also unreliable in his eyes, “given our experience with French blood products that were infected with HIV.”
“I have communicated this to government officials and I am now saying it publicly,” Khamenei said of the import ban during a televised address. Khamenei praised his country’s commitment to developing its own vaccines.
Remarkable Pope statement
In an interview with Italian TV channel Canale 5, Pope Francis calls opposition to the corona vaccine “suicidal denial.” He urges people to get vaccinated and says they will be vaccinated against the virus next week.
Francis says in the interview, which will be broadcast on Sunday evening but parts of which have already been released, that the vaccination in the Vatican will start next week. “There is a suicidal denial that I cannot explain, but today we must get vaccinated,” said the Pope.
