In the sermon, in Persian and Arabic, an appeal was then launched to all Muslim countries, “from Afghanistan to Yemen, from Gaza to Lebanon”, to “girdle a protective belt” against the “common enemy”.

Khamenei’s statement appeared to be a show of strength by the regime, almost as if to quell the serious threat at the gates. A growing concern is the shape of an Israeli attack on Iran’s energy and oil infrastructure, which would devastate an already struggling economy. Then there is the Houthi front which, armed with Tehran, attacks Western merchant ships in the Red Sea in retaliation for Gaza. US: ‘No commitment from Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities’
