“Kham Kha: From Karateka to Singer”

Kham Kha will share the bill with Gilles Servat during a concert evening in Betton, north of Rennes, on Sunday May 21. It was quite recently, in her fifties, that Kham, a Lao native, a high-ranking karateka, embarked on a new art: song. A 1st album, “My tear” has just been released.

56 ans, 6th dan. Karate is the anchor of Kham Vannier. Born in Laos, she has been teaching karate for 20 years at Saint-Grégoire.
From now on, Kham is also a singer: she started with covers posted on the web, before writing her own texts.

Containment, a revealer

The Covid period was a turning point. “I found myself at home, giving karate lessons to a computer, in a period of life where it was complicated for me. I found myself having to put my own words to the music.”

Initially, Kham just wanted to record a piano/voice song. A ten-track album was born with the help of friends plus meetings with composer and professional musicians.

All for the music

Kham chained the working hours. She surrounded herself with a singing coach.

At all levels, it has given itself the means, with its own funds and crowdfunding.

This May 21, Kham Kha is organizing a concert in Betton. She will be on stage before Gilles Servat. “I thank Gilles Servat very much for letting me enjoy his audience. I have to rise to the occasion”.
A dual career to pursue

The follow-up: continue to teach karate if the physique allows it and try to concretize other artistic dreams.
If I can go further in music, so much the better, if it has to stop tomorrow, it won’t be the end of the world, I’ve already had fun“.
Already planned: a tour in Laos in 2024 and maybe a 2th album.
