Here, 90 minutes I’ve reviewed Shaw’s six hat-tricks in the WSL…

Shaw recorded her first WSL hat-trick towards the end of her first season with Metropolis. Taylor’s team recorded a 7-2 win over Brighton in April 2022, with Shaw on the scoresheet four times.

The forward scored two goals in the first 15 minutes before Caroline Weir added Metropolis’ third shortly after. Shaw converted two further chances in the second half, while Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood were also among the goals.

The Metropolis star had to wait almost 12 months before scoring another hat-trick, with the second of his WSL career coming against Tottenham in March 2023. Late in the first half, Shaw scored the first before converting a penalty shortly after. the rest.

He added the third late in the game, while Celin Bizet scored the only goal for Spurs that day. Despite Shaw’s goalscoring exploits, it was actually Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly who took home the golden boot in the 2022/23 season.

Earlier in 2023/24, Metropolis thrashed Spurs 7-0 at home and Shaw took his second hat-trick against the north London club. He scored the three goals in 15 minutes of the first half.

After the break, Hemp, Roord and Laura Coombs scored the remaining four to complete the rout.

A month later, the striker scored the fourth hat-trick of her WSL career as Metropolis faced Brian Sorensen’s Everton. He buried the first two chances in the first half and added the third just after the hour mark.

Roord, who also enjoyed a good start to the 2023/24 campaign, scored in the first half at Walton Corridor Park.

When WSL action returned in January 2024 after the winter break, Shaw wasted no time continuing her goalscoring form. Against another Merseyside club, this time Liverpool, he scored three goals in a 5-1 victory.

Taylor Hinds had initially opened the scoring for the visitors, but an own goal from defender Gemma Bonner minutes later gave Metropolis a route back into the game. A clinical Shaw scored two before the break and added the third shortly after the break. Chloe Kelly converted a late penalty.

Fast forward to his most recent appearance, Shaw scored the third hat-trick of his WSL career alone against Spurs and Taylor’s side secured a 4-0 win over the Lilywhites. The striker needed just one minute to break the deadlock at the Etihad on Friday night.

Shaw scored a second 15 minutes later and then added the third in the second half. Roord, who is in good form after recovering from an ACL injury, also scored after the break.
