Khabib Surrender and His Record is 29-1

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Tony Ferguson presume Khabib Nurmagomedov gave up after deciding to retire from UFC and now the record is 29-1.

Khabib is confirmed to retire as the UFC decision to hold UFC 262 Michael Chandler vs Charles Oliveira as a contest for the UFC lightweight class. Khabib has indeed decided to retire since winning against Justin Gaethje but UFC boss Dana White previously kept trying to convince Khabib to return.

At the point where Khabib is certain to retire, Ferguson then taunts Khabib. The taunt was made via his Twitter account.

The ridicule was expressed by Ferguson in a war of words against Ali Abdelaziz, who is Khabib’s manager.

“Ali, I received a verbal tap from your client, Khabib. 29-1 now. Continuously avoiding the fight,” Ferguson said on his Twitter account.

Ferguson has not had the chance to duel against Khabib. The Khabib vs Ferguson duel was considered a dream duel in the light class but it never happened. Five times Khabib vs Ferguson duel had been recorded, but all of them were canceled. Khabib was the reason for the duel to be canceled three times while Ferguson was twice.

The last Khabib vs Ferguson duel was planned for UFC 242, April 2020. However, the duel was canceled due to the corona pandemic sweeping the world.

Khabib reasoned that it was difficult to travel amid the unclear schedule from the UFC. Ferguson ended up advancing to UFC 242 against Justin Gaethje. Ferguson’s defeat made him no longer have a chance against Khabib.
