Khabib Nurmagomedov is concerned about Islam Makhachev’s motoring hobby

Jakarta

Islam Makhachev became the new UFC lightweight champion after defeating Charles Oliveira. The fighter has the motocross hobby that worries Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Quoted by sportskeeda, Wednesday (10/26/2022) Makhachev said he began actively riding motocross when his coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, was hospitalized in 2020.

“I started riding a motorcycle when Abdulmanap was hospitalized. I think when he (Abdulmanap) leaves my fun will be over. I’m 99% sure he’ll warn me first and if I do it again he’ll burn his bike.” Machachev said.

The concern of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s late father about Makhachev’s activities is not without reason. The 31-year-old is a lightweight future prospect of the UFC, he is seen as the heir to Nurmagomedov’s dominance in the division.

Islam Makhachev should take Frank Mir, the two-time UFC heavyweight champion, as an example. Frank Mir had a motorcycle accident in 2004 when he was still a champion. Mir’s injury kept him out of the game for nearly two years. Mir’s return to competition after the accident effectively put his career in decline.

Moreover, Makhachev’s hobby is not alone Sunday morning tour on urban routes but motorized crossings with a high risk of injury. He often shares his moments in the mountains with motorcycles such as Husqvarna FE 350 and Crossfire GR7 250.

Makhachev said Khabib’s response to his motorcycle hobby was exactly like that of the late Abdulmanap. Makhachev added that he had purchased the necessary equipment to protect himself from accidents.

“I thought I should get rid of the bike because the coach didn’t like it. Now Khabib is saying the same thing. I understand that I have to take responsibility and try to be careful. I bought expensive equipment to protect myself.” He added.
