Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) figure KH Marsudi Syuhud denied entrusting 24 students to enroll in six tertiary institutions in the case of Unila’s PMB Independent Pathway. The KPK admitted that they were still waiting for the trial process.
The Head of the KPK Reporting Unit, Ali Fikri, said that the KPK prosecutor had recorded witness statements in the case. Including BAP Plt. The Director General of Higher Education was named Nizam who dragged the name Marsudi Syuhud.
“We have followed the entire trial process at the corruption court there, the facts from the trial process, the statements of the witnesses have certainly been properly recorded by the KPK prosecutor team. The next trial will confirm every fact,” Ali told reporters, Thursday (2 /2/2023).
Nevertheless, Ali is still waiting for the legal facts in the case. From these legal facts, he continued, the KPK would then follow up.
“Once again these are the facts of the trial, later when the prosecutor compiles an analysis of juridical law in the indictment, will it be possible to conclude that the facts of the trial become legal facts,” he said.
“What do legal facts mean? When they are mutually compatible with each other, and in accordance with other evidence, at least 2 pieces of evidence are sufficient to form a legal fact that can be followed up by the KPK,” Ali added.
The KPK itself, according to him, will wait for the trial process to be completed. Later, the KPK will develop it, including adding other suspects in the case.
“I think we are waiting for the entire trial process at the Corruption Court there, what is certain is that we will study and confirm every information from the statements of the witnesses,” he said.
“The hope is that in the end it can be concluded in legal facts, so that anyone with sufficient evidence can be held accountable legally. We will definitely develop it further by establishing another suspect,” he said.
Previously, KH Marsudi Syuhud was said to have entrusted 24 students at 6 universities in Indonesia in 2021. His name appeared in the BAP Acting Director General of Higher Education, Nizam, who was presented as a witness in the follow-up trial of the Unila Mandiri PMB bribery case.
The 6 tertiary institutions where KH Marsudi Syuhud was enrolled were Airlangga University, Brawijaya University, Jember University, Jenderal Soedirman University, UIN Malang, and the 10 November Institute of Technology.
Marsudi Shuhud denied the accusation. “I don’t feel it sendand don’t feel like asking,” Marsudi said when contacted detikcomWednesday (1/2/2023).
Marsudi also said that he had never met Nizam. “Never met,” the deputy chairman of the MUI.
