The caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java, KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz (Gus Kikin) opened his voice after he was appointed as Acting (Pj) Chair of the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Regional Management.
Gus Kikin said that his appointment as Acting Chair of the East Java PWNU was a normal process. The great-grandson of NU founder Hadratussyekh KH Hasyim Asy’ari admitted that he had also undergone the process at PWNU East Java.
This position as Acting Chair of the East Java PWNU, for Gus Kikin, is an effort to fill the vacant position after the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board dismissed KH Marzuqi Mustamar as the East Java NU captain.
“(The position of Acting Chair of the East Java PWNU) is to fill the vacant position so that this organization can run,” said Gus Kikin, as quoted NU Online SinglesThursday (11/1/2024).
Gus Kikin was humble. He said, even if there was someone who was willing to occupy a position like the position he currently holds, then that would be something better.
Meanwhile, the first step that Gus Kikin will take after being appointed as Acting Chair of the East Java PWNU is to establish friendship first. He wanted to know more about the needs that needed to be met at PWNU East Java.
“Ta’aruf first, an introduction to what needs to be done and continued as an innovation. Yes, we’ll just let it flow,” said Gus Kikin, who is also one of the PBNU Chairmen.
Furthermore, he emphasized that organizing at NU cannot be done if you intend to prioritize personal interests and abandon common interests for the progress of the Nahdlatul Ulama Association so that it can benefit society.
“How does this organization run well and provide benefits god willing others also joined in,” he concluded.
As is known, Gus Kikin was appointed and confirmed as Acting Chair of the East Java PWNU through the Joint Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah Meeting forum at the PBNU Office, Jalan Kramat Raya 164, Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/1/2024) yesterday afternoon. This meeting was chaired directly by Rais ‘Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar and attended by the General Chairperson of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf along with all the ranks of the daily syuriyah and tanfidziyah.
