KFSHRC sets new standards with VR technology at AMEE 2024

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Aug. 23, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Through the continuous adoption of new technologies, KFSHRC ensures that its trainees are well prepared for today’s medical challenges and have the skills and knowledge they need to shape the future of medicine. These technologies bridge the gap between theory and practice and prepare healthcare professionals to take on leadership roles in an increasingly complex and technology-driven healthcare landscape.

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC) continues to lead the way in medical education by incorporating cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) technology into its training programs.

The KFSHRC uses VR to create immersive, interactive learning environments that simulate real-world medical scenarios. These virtual experiences allow trainees to practice complex procedures in a controlled environment, significantly improving their competency and preparation for clinical settings. In addition to education, VR is also a powerful tool in patient care, improving treatment outcomes, engagement, understanding and retention of medical information. The Saud Jeddah Simulation Centre, established in the same year, has conducted numerous VR-based training sessions, reinforcing the KFSHRC’s leadership role in simulation-based education. The introduction of VR and other simulation initiatives resulted in a 58% increase in participant engagement and demonstrates the institution’s ongoing efforts to improve educational outcomes.

AMEE 2024 attendees will be able to experience KFSHRC’s VR technology first-hand and see how it is revolutionizing medical education and setting a new standard for educational excellence worldwide.

In addition, KFSHRC was able to announce its first certification by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-International (ACGME-I) in 2023, reflecting its commitment to global quality standards and dedication to the advancement of medical education.

It is noteworthy that King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre has ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa and 20th globally in the list of the world’s 250 best academic medical centers for the second consecutive year, and is recognized as the most valuable healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East according to the Brand Finance Ranking 2024. It was also ranked among the world’s 250 best hospitals by Newsweek magazine in the same year.
