Auckland City was locked down for seven days due to KFC staff who went to work in New Zealand, ignoring self-isolation recommendations.
– According to New Zealand media on the 2nd (local time), a younger sister of an employee who worked at KFC on the 23rd of last month was confirmed to have a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19). New Zealand health authorities have made several recommendations to the employee and his family to self-isolate. However, this employee even went to work on the 22nd and 23rd of last month, ignoring the recommendations. Since then, this employee has been diagnosed with coronavirus.
As this became known, Prime Minister Arden held a press conference on the 28th of last month and criticized “they made a complete mistake. It is not right that 5 million Aucklanders suffer because a family member ignores government guidelines.”
Auckland entered into a three-phase blockade for a week starting on the 28th of last month. Outside of Auckland, the response was raised from stage 1 to stage 2. Meetings with more than 100 people are prohibited, and social distancing guidelines are strictly enforced.
New Zealand has been called a’corona clean country’ because it responded relatively well to Corona 19. It also ranked first among 53 countries in the’February Corona 19 Resilience Ranking’ compiled by Bloomberg last month.
