Key statistics for the city of Vienna regarding the Corona virus

Vienna (OTS/RK) The Vienna Health Authority and the City of Vienna’s medical crisis team provide regular information on the current number of cases and other key figures on the Covid-19 virus.

As of Tuesday, March 21, 2023, 1,393,432 positive tests have been confirmed in Vienna since the beginning of the pandemic. 1,368,780 people have recovered. The number of deaths related to the virus is 4,705. Three people have recently died. The federal capital currently has 19,947 active cases.

Findings reported today include:

2 findings less from 03/18/2023
9 findings less from 03/17/2023
5 findings less from the days before

The 1450 health hotline took 1,128 calls.

496 people are currently being treated in hospital in Vienna because of or with COVID-19. These break down as follows:

COVID-19 patients in normal care in a COVID ward: 109
COVID-19 patients in normal care in a post-COVID ward: 191
COVID-19 patients in normal care in a non-COVID ward*: 179

COVID-19 patients in intensive care in a COVID ward: 12
COVID-19 patients in intensive care in a post-COVID ward: 5
COVID-19 patients in intensive care in a non-COVID ward*: 0

* These patients are on the one hand SARS-CoV-2 positive hospital patients whose reason for admission is an underlying disease that was so aggravated by a SARS-CoV-2 infection that hospital treatment became necessary. On the other hand, these are SARS-CoV-2 positive hospital patients whose original reason for admission is not related to COVID-19. These hospital patients also cause increased care and isolation costs due to their SARS-CoV-2 infection.
