Omtzigt has good reasons to have reservations about an ultra-right cabinet. Before the elections, he emphasized the importance of a reliable government, but VVD and PVV are now working on a plan to disable the dispersal law recently adopted by the Senate. In addition, PVV and BBB are heading for a free beer budget, while Omtzigt is committed to careful management of public finances.
On Friday evening, Caroline van der Plas refused to distance herself from a threat from Farmers Defense Force to NSC MP Harm Holman. “Veiled threats are not OK. You simply distance yourself from @lientje1967,” Omtzigt tweeted. He hasn’t posted on X since.
