The list of defendants in the ‘Koldo case’ includes an agent of the Civil Guard, the police force that has precisely investigated for months the alleged corrupt plot led by the former advisor of José Luis Ábalos. A report from the Central Operational Unit recently contributed to the proceedings focuses the suspicions hanging over the RVC agent: he is accused of collecting 2,000 euros in cash on a regular basis, of having obtained a “secure line of communication” to Víctor Aldama, one of the main people investigated, and finally the UCO expresses its suspicions that this agent could have participated in the tip-off to the plot to alert them that they were being investigated.

The agent was arrested on March 3 at the Madrid airport when he was about to board a plane bound for Caracas, destined for the Spanish embassy in Venezuela recently after passing through the anti-terrorist structure of the Civil Guard. The investigators reached him after analyzing the content of some WhatsApp groups of those investigated and their conversations: references to cash payments to someone nicknamed “R.”
“Indications of monthly cash payments to this person have been found.” The businessman Víctor Aldama, who according to investigators had a close relationship with this agent, refers to these payments on several occasions: “The R 2 thing every month.” Investigators understand that, in addition, meetings between this agent and Aldama coincide with the alleged payment orders.
One of the accusations against this civil guard is doing favors for the plot using his position as an agent. “He would have taken steps to benefit Aldama in the exercise of his status as a Civil Guard. In particular, he would have facilitated a secure line of communication to Aldama.” The report does not specify further details. The term “secure line” is often used for communication methods, such as telephone lines or messaging systems, that cannot be detected by investigations such as the one then underway against the plot.
Another suspicion is that this Civil Guard agent participated in the tip-off that alerted the Delorme plot that he was under scrutiny by the Civil Guard. “At this point in the investigation, this link is of interest,” says the Civil Guard about the fact that Koldo García stated in conversations that the agent had “opened a couple of doors for him in Venezuela,” his current destination. It is interesting, says the report, “because a priori Koldo García would have been alerted to the existence of an investigation into his person by sources from the Corps.”
This agent was brought to justice on March 6 and was released with precautionary measures: he cannot leave the country and his passport was revoked. This is a part of the investigation that, until that moment, had remained secret, and the civil guard is accused of crimes of criminal organization and bribery.
