The Czechs decided on the new composition of the Senate, the polling stations closed at 14:00. The names of the twenty-two new and old senators were already clear after 3 pm in the afternoon. ANO was the most successful, winning eight mandates in this year’s elections. Among the government groups, the STAN movement won the most mandates. The senatorial clubs of the governing parties are likely to have a majority of at least 59 seats out of a total of 81 in the Senate.
The Lebanese terrorist movement Hezbollah has confirmed the death of the group’s top leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli air strike in Beirut. Jerusalem hopes that Hezbollah will now change its behavior, but the army is prepared for further escalation, including a ground operation, the spokesman stressed. The victorious ANO movement in the Olomouc region agreed on a coalition with the SPD, Trikolora, PRO and Svobodných groups. In the fifty-five-member regional council, this dual coalition will have a majority of 31 votes. The coalition agreement should be ready for signing within two weeks. ANO leader and candidate for governor Ladislav Okleštěk told journalists. In the coming days, ANO will continue to negotiate with representatives of the SPD, Trikolora, PRO and Svobodných about the form of the coalition agreement, including the division of posts in the regional council.
