It has already become clear that since April 1st, the price of natural gas has risen shockingly by as much as 30%. Thus, 1000 cubic meters of “blue fuel” will cost BGN 363.26 without VAT.
The heating companies expressed their opinions at the last meeting of the energy regulator. According to the director of the capital heating company Georgi Belovski, the price that is proposed to be accepted for “Toplofikatsia” Sofia, despite the large percentage expression in its increase, does not cover all the negative values accumulated over the years in the company. “Despite everything, we believe that what the commission proposed is fully in line with the market situation at the moment. The commission takes into account both the price of gas and the current state of the “Heat production” sector and in particular the “Heating” sector of Sofia, which is why we support and accept the proposal made by the commission,” said Belovski.
During the previous meeting, Ombudsman Maya Manolova indicated that she was very worried about the shock price increase. According to her, these increases are made without arguments and are unfounded. Furthermore, the public defender thinks that the decisions are made entirely in the interest of the energy companies.
From 9:00 a.m. on April 7, a civil protest will be held in front of the KEVR building against the proposed increase in the price of thermal energy for the customers of Toplofikatsia Sofia EAD, as well as the increase in the price of water by 18% from April 1, 2017. The protest was authorized by the Metropolitan Municipality and the SDVR. There is also an organized event on Facebook – “Protest against the outrages of KEVR!” 04/07/2017 – Friday”.
The protest will take place during the closed session of the KEVR, where a decision will be made on the increase in the price of thermal energy. The protest is organized by civil society, is not paid for, and is not connected to political parties, individuals or organizations.
