When he got to experience Djurgårdspublik again at Tele2 arena, he did it as an away player.
However, that did not stop Djurgården from thanking his former faithful servant.
– A nice proof that you were popular when you played here, says Kevin Walker.
It was a disappointment Kevin Walker who met the combined press corps after Djurgården’s 3-0 victory against Örebro.
– Sad circumstances today for us with the result, says Walker, nowadays an Örebro player.
However, that did not stop the home fans from paying tribute to Walker, who previously made six seasons in Djurgårdströjan, in connection with Monday’s match.
“Nice to wave to everyone”
When he left Djurgården after last year’s season, there were no supporters in the stands.
– Of course you have feelings for a club you played for for six years. A nice receipt for being popular when playing here. Had not had the chance to say goodbye in person so it was nice to wave to all the fans, who have been fantastic to me and my family. says Walker, with a bouquet of flowers in his fist, about the unveiling in connection with the match.
– But today it was just full focus on trying to get points here. A tough match. We have to fight on.
Fighting on is also what applies to an Örebro whose table position is precarious.
New coach: “Is in a process”
How precarious it can be purely in terms of table placement.
– Djurgården was better than us today, says Vitor Gazimba, after his first match as head coach of ÖSK.
– We are in a process. We have realized that we need to get better. The boys did a good job today with their willingness to run and their intentions.
Do you feel pressured that the process must go extra fast given the table situation?
– I just feel the pressure that we have to do better in the next match. And we still have to take match after match. We are still only in the beginning and have a lot left to work on.
