Kevin Spacey is convinced he can get back to work in Hollywood if he is also acquitted of multiple sex crimes in London. This is what the 63-year-old actor says in his first major interview since 2017, when the first accusation against him came out.
His reputation can no longer be polished, Spacey says in conversation with the German ZEITmagazin. “But I think it’s much more important that directors and producers have said to me: ‘We want to work with you, but we can’t right now.'”
“Many people are afraid that they will be canceled if they work with me. But if I am also acquitted in London, then there will be people who dare to do it again. In ten years it will no longer have any meaning,” he says.
With this, the actor refers to the various abuse cases that have been filed against him. “My work lives on longer than I do, and that work is what people remember.”
In the conversation, Spacey says he has been an “asshole”. “I really hope I become a better Kevin Spacey.” According to the interviewer, who spent several days with the actor before the conversation, Spacey refuses to answer specific questions about the case. He also says little about how the fuss around his person has influenced him.
The actor says he will not do that at a later time. “I don’t feel the need to be right. There’s no point in fighting something that isn’t worth the effort.”

Actor was acquitted in another case
Spacey is expected in London court in two weeks. There he has to answer for twelve different charges against him. It concerns sex crimes that allegedly took place between 2001 and 2013. During that period he was the artistic director of the famous Old Vic theater in London.
Spacey is already in court: he was acquitted in the case that Anthony Rapp had brought against him. Rapp was fourteen years old when he met Spacey and says he was sexually approached by him during that time. The jury did not see sufficient evidence for Rapp’s charges and therefore acquitted Spacey.
In recent times, the actor has carefully picked up his work again. He acted in the drama film The Man Who Drew God and can be heard in a speaking role in the small film Control. Big roles in Hollywood movies and series like House of Cards he lost because of the accusations.
