Kevin Spacey says he is innocent in the abuse case that was brought against him in London at the end of last year. It concerns a total of seven charges against one man, who was allegedly abused by the actor between 2001 and 2004.
Spacey was present in the courtroom via video link, reports Deadline. He said he was innocent in all seven cases.
The man accuses Spacey of sexual abuse, which allegedly took place several times between 2001 and 2004. The charges are all about abuse, but one specific case is about forced sex. The accuser has so far remained anonymous.
Spacey can be found in London more often than not digitally due to various lawsuits. The 63-year-old actor was artistic director of the British Old Vic theater between 2005 and 2013 and is said to have sexually assaulted several men during that time. He denies everything.
Five charges related to allegations from Spacey’s time at the Old Vic have been bundled into one trial, which will start on June 6. The seven charges that were dealt with on Friday are also included in this case. The judge is expected to make a ruling about a month later.
Spacey has already filed a lawsuit in the United States. He was acquitted in the case brought against him by American actor Anthony Rapp. Rapp was fourteen years old when he met Spacey. He says that he was sexually approached by Spacey at the time.
The jury did not see sufficient evidence for Rapp’s charges and therefore acquitted Spacey. The Oscar winner has always denied the accusation and says he has never been alone with Rapp.
Spacey will be in Turin next Monday to be honored at an event organized by Italy’s National Film Museum. It will be the first time in five years that he is present at a public event.
