Kevin Spacey is charged with sexual assault in the UK

The actor star is charged with four cases involving three men, the prosecution authorities in the UK say in a press release.

The charges come after a review of the evidence collected by the Metropolitan police, says leader Rosemary Ainslie at the prosecuting authority CPS (Crown Prescution Service, editor’s note).

Ainslie adds that the legal process is ongoing and that Spacey is entitled to a fair trial.

Several years back in time

One man claims that he was sexually abused in London in 2005, while another says that he was forced to have sex against his will in 2008. This too is said to have happened in London.

The third claims that he was abused in Gloucestershire in 2013.

Spacey has denied all charges against him.

Kevin Spacey was one of the world’s most prominent actors until in 2017, serious accusations arose against him. An actor claimed that as a 14-year-old he was sexually harassed by Spacey in 1986. Spacey was then 26 years old.

Spacey responded with an apology on Twitter, where he wrote that he could not remember the incident, but was shocked to hear this and apologized “if he behaved like that” for what “must have been grossly inappropriate behavior in drunkenness”.

In the wake of this, 14 other people also came with accusations against Spacey.

Paid back 277 million

The 62-year-old is known for big movies such as “American Beauty”, “Seven” and “The Suspects”, as well as the Netflix series “House of Cards”.

In 2021, it became known that he paid back 31 million dollars to MRC, the studio that produced the latter series. This corresponded to 277 million Norwegian kroner.

Spacey was fired from the House of Cards on charges of sexual harassment and abuse.

The studio then wrote about the series to remove his character, reducing the number of episodes from 13 to eight, which resulted in a large loss of revenue for the company.
