Kevin Owens reached the top of the mountain in WWE on August 29, 2016 on Raw, when he managed to win the vacant WWE Universal Championship. He held this title until March 5, 2017, when he fell to Goldberg at Fastlane 2017. However, it lasted 188 days with the Universal Championship and while that’s a fantastic thing, Owens has recently revealed that he regrets something during this reign..
► Kevin Owens assures that he could not enjoy being WWE Universal Champion
In December of last year he commented that his reign with the Universal Championship It wasn’t what he wished it had been, but now, in an interview with talk SPORT, revealed what was really behind that phrase, and that is tried to be so perfectionist in his reign that he didn’t have time to enjoy it.
I really don’t care how my reign ended. It ended the way it ended and everyone has to end at some point. At least it ended for a reason. There was a reason for my reign to end beyond a ‘Hey, Owens is not doing a good job’. Because that was not the case. Whether it should have ended that way or not, that’s another discussion.
“What I want to emphasize more when I talk about this is the fact that I would love to have another reign with the Universal Championship to make things right for me. My way of thinking has changed a lot since I was champion and back then i didn’t take the time to enjoy any of it.
I was too focused on trying to do well, to do better, to do my best, and I really really didn’t enjoy it like I should have. My wife was instrumental in my realizing that.
“My parents too, even guys like Shawn Michaels, Triple H and even Vince McMahon himself, they’ve all told me that it seemed like I forgot to enjoy things in that part and that If you’re not going to enjoy being the champion, then what else to enjoy in this industry?«
