Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon straight to the round of 16 French Open after their opponent canceled participating.
Kevin/Marcus are scheduled to duel against Joel Eipe/Rasmus Kjaer from Denmark in the first round. However, Eipe/Kjaer decided to resign so Kevin/Marcus immediately qualified for the second round.
The passage of Kevin/Marcus to the round of 16 will automatically add to their rest time before appearing in the French Open. The reason is, Kevin / Marcus have been involved and have played since the Sudirman Cup at the end of September. By directly qualifying for the last 16, Kevin/Marcus will only compete on Thursday (28/10).
In the round of 16, Kevin/Marcus will face the winner of the duel between Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel against Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong.
In the top block, Kevin/Marcus joined the Malaysian doubles such as Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi and Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, to Ben Lane/Sean Vendy.
Apart from Eipe/Kjaer, other Danish doubles who withdrew from the French Open were Jeppe Bay/Lasse Molhede and Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.
The first round of the French Open itself has taken place today. A number of Indonesian representatives have started competing, including Fajar/Rian.
Fajar/Rian will face Scottish doubles, Alexander Dunn/Adam Hall in the first round duel today.
In the last edition of the French Open in 2019, Kevin/Marcus won by defeating Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty in the final round. Apart from Kevin/Marcus, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva also came out victorious by defeating Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong in the top party.
