The living badminton legend Christian Hadinata commented on the performance of Indonesian players in the 2021 Sudirman Cup, in particular Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon.
Kevin/Marcus face Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik in the first party of the Sudirman Cup quarter-finals on Friday (1/10). In the match which was held at Energia Areena, Vantaa, Finland, Kevin/Marcus lost two games to Aaron/Soh with a score of 12-21, 15-21.
The defeat left Indonesia 0-1 behind. In the end, Red and White bowed 2-3 and failed to advance to the semifinals.
For Kevin/Marcus, this defeat is the second time in a row from the world’s eighth ranked men’s doubles. Previously, Kevin/Marcus also lost to Aaron/Soh in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Christian Hadinata, the 1972 All England champion, assessed that the appearance of The Minions in the 2021 Sudirman Cup quarter-finals was not exciting, different from usual. He also has a suggestion for Kevin/Marcus to appear greng again.
