Kevin Magnussen to debut Indycar at Road America

Former Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen (28), a member of the upcoming Peugeot team in the WEC World Endurance Championship and currently signed with Cadillac-Ganassi in IMSA, USA, will make his Indycar debut, on the Road America circuit, Saturday June 19. The Dane, who has taken part in 118 F1 Grands Prix, will replace at Arrow McLaren SP, the Swede Felix Rosenqvist, still recovering after his spectacular off the track on the urban track from Belle-Isle to Detroit, on June 12. He did not receive the green light to take the wheel again this weekend.

Oliver Askew, who had replaced Rosenqvist at short notice for the second race in Detroit on Sunday, June 20, could not repeat the operation because the young American (24 years old) was already selected by Ed Carpenter’s team to replace this times, Rinus Veekay (5th in the championship), injured in the hand in a bicycle accident, this week.

At Road America, Magnussen will not be too out of place for his Indycar debut as it is the most beautiful permanent road circuit in the United States (6.515 km long, 14 turns), the one closest to what Magnussen was able to know in Formula 1.

For a race, the Dane will therefore find, in Indycar, his ex-teammate in F1, Romain Grosjean. They had already met again in Detroit where IMSA and Indycar took turns sharing the track.
