“Glen knows where I am. First of all, he is not genuine. Two, he is receiving pressure from a lot of fans and, I suppose, the community there,” Garnett told The Athletic. “Glen and I understood each other before (former team president) Flip (Saunders) died, and when Flip died, that understanding went with Flip.”

“For that, I will not forgive Glen. I will not forgive him for that. I thought he was a direct person, a direct businessman, and when Flip died, everything went with him.”

Saunders brought Garnett back to Minnesota in an exchange in 2015, the two discussed that KG would eventually become a minority owner.

Then Saunders died suddenly after a battle with lymphoma and the Wolves were forced to move on with new leadership. Garnett told the AP in 2017 that he believes the promises were broken. He retired in September 2016 after a tense purchase negotiation with Taylor.

“I value my years in Minnesota and in that community,” Garnett told The Athletic. “Right now, I don’t want any deal with Glen Taylor or Taylor Corp. or anything to do with him. I love my Timberwolves, I will always love my boys, I will always love the people who were with me there. I will always have a place. special to the city of Minneapolis and the state of Minnesota at my heart.

“But I don’t do business with snakes. I don’t do business with snake mothers. I try not to do business with snakes openly or people who are like snakes.”

Garnett was among the nine selected for the Hall of Fame last Saturday. He spent 14 of his 21 NBA seasons in Minnesota, including the first 12. He averaged 17.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists per game with the Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets.
