It was a major win for Minnesota as they battled for playoff qualifiers. Kevin Fiala put his team on the road to victory in the 30th minute with the power play hit to make it 3:2. In the 38th minute he hit the backhand to make it 5:2.

In the past four games, Fiala has seven scorer points, three goals and four assists. He is only the third Swiss-born player to hit 20 goals in four or more seasons. Timo Meier also has four seasons with 20 or more goals. Nino Niederreiter at five.

Fiala, who was voted the second best player of the game against New York Rangers, said:

«We never stopped. We scored the first two goals. And then led 3:2. In the third third we did a great job and didn’t let the opponent catch up.”

Minnesota, which plays its home games in St. Paul, is third in the Central division table. Rangers are second in the Metropolitan division.

Fiala, whose contract with Minnesota expires at the end of the season, was the most productive Swiss player in the NHL in the past (shortened) regular season.
