Kevin Costner celebrates new Western film in Berlin

Fans in cowboy outfits celebrate a Hollywood icon: Kevin Costner has come to Berlin for the German premiere of his new film. “Horizon – An American Saga” is Costner’s first directorial project in 21 years. The 69-year-old’s film is a four-part western epic.

The first, three-hour part will be released in German cinemas on August 22nd. “Horizon” is set in New Mexico in 1861. The film tells the story of white Americans who, on their journey west, occupy the lands of the Apaches who are resisting the land grab. In addition to Costner, Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington are among the cast.

Costner’s first western as a director, “Dances with Wolves” from 1990, won seven Oscars. Before “Horizon”, his most recent western was “Open Range” in 2003. In recent years, Costner played a leading role in the acclaimed western series “Yellowstone” by Taylor Sheridan.
