The divorce between Kevin Costner and his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner has finally been finalized after a disagreement over alimony. According to entertainment magazine People the marriage officially ended last Friday.
The American actor and the bag designer separated last May, but could not agree on alimony. Baumgartner refused to leave their $135 million (almost 125 million euros) villa in California as long as she had no guarantee that Costner would continue to support her financially. She has now left the house.
Baumgartner was the one who filed for divorce last year. A spokesperson for Costner said at the time that the decision came as a complete surprise to the 69-year-old actor. The Oscar winner and 49-year-old Baumgartner had been in a relationship since 2000 and had been married since 2004. Together they have three children, aged sixteen, fifteen and thirteen.
It was Costner’s second marriage. He was previously married for sixteen years to actress Cindy Silva, with whom he also has three children. After divorcing his first wife, he had a brief relationship with actress Bridget Rooney. With her he had a son.
Costner is known for films like The Bodyguard, The Postman in Dances with Wolves, for which he won an Oscar as director. He recently achieved success with a role in the series Yellowstonefor which he won a Golden Globe.
