Indonesian men’s doubles Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Bagas Maulana managed to bring Indonesia through to the quarter-finals after winning the fourth match against Thailand in the Group A match Thomas Cup 2022.
Kevin/Bagas successfully beat the young Thai pair Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul 24-22, 21-11 at Field 1 Impact Arena, Nonthaburi, Monday (9/5) night and changed the temporary score to 3-1.
Kevin/Bagas’ match against Peeratchai/Pakkapon was tough. At the start of the game, both partners score each other.
However, Kevin/Bagas were able to lead 11-7 in the first game interval. After the first game interval, the Thai pair made a lot of mistakes, causing them to be 16-10 behind from Kevin/Bagas.
But the situation turned Kevin/Bagas committing a series of errors and made Thailand continue to equalize 18-18, 20-20, 21-21, and 22-22.
Until finally Kevin / Bagas managed to finish the first game with a 24-22 victory.
In the second game Kevin/Bagas fell behind early in the game, but they managed to reverse the position at 7-6 points.
Kevin / Bagas was finally able to lead 11-8 in the second game interval. After the second game interval, the Indonesian pair were able to shoot and closed the second game 21-11.
This Kevin/Bagas victory made Indonesia vs Thailand score 3-1 and ensured qualification for the 2022 Thomas Cup quarter-finals.
Apart from Indonesia, South Korea has also made sure to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Thomas Cup because at the moment they are 3-1 ahead of Singapore.
Indonesia and South Korea currently both collect two points from the two matches that have been played. Furthermore, Indonesia will meet South Korea on Wednesday (11/5) afternoon WIB to determine the winner of Group A.
